Sri Lanka Olympic Chairman visited to Sammu City 【Apr 30th, 2016】
Sri Lanka Olympic Chairman Mr. Maxwel De Silva visited the Naruto General Sport Plaza and the Roadside station at Orai Hasunuma.
Mayor and the City assemblymen had a meeting and they inspected the stadium.
Japan Sri Lanka Ambassador visited Sammu City 【May 13th, 2016】
Professor Dammika Dissanayaka the ambassador of Sri Lanka arrived Sammu city and had a meeting with Mayor and city assemblymen.
After that, he visited the Sammu South Junior High School and had a conference there. After the conference had a get together with members of Sammu Global Center.
Exchange program of youths between Sammu City and Sri Lanka Sending and inviting students (according to the basic agreement)
The program to send youths to Sri Lanka from Japan 【from Jul 24th to Aug 1st, 2016】
- From July 24th to August 1st, 2016 (7 nights and 9 days)
- 10 students who go to junior high schools and high scools in Sammu City
- Visiting：Embassy of Japan, Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Education, National Olympic Committee, Parliament, JICA volunteers' activities, Local junior high scool and high schools to have culutural exchange, Japanese Companies, World Herttage Sites and SNECC
The program to invite youths from Sri Lanka 【Oct 17th to 24th, 2016】
- From October 17th to 24th, 2016
- Two Sri Lankan national junior high school students
- Visiting：Embassy of Sri Lanka, Local Junior High School, Homestay, etc
Rice Paddy Art Project in 2016 【May 28th to Sep 24th, 2016】
"Nearest countryside to the world" as catchphrase, expressing the hospitality by Rice-paddy art.
This year theme is "Urashima Tarou" 【It is ancient Falk-tale】

Invited JICA trainees who are visiting Japan from Sri Lanka to Sammu City
Homestay, Cultural Exchange
Cooperation for "Ashita Eno Michi" (Road to tomorrow) 1000km Longitudinal Relay in 2016 【Aug 6th, 2016】
Sammu City is one of the tsunami disaster area on March 11th, 2011. Then Sammu City cooperate for this relay held by Tokyo Prefecture. At Hasunuma Beach Park, Orai Hasunuma (Tourist station) and Motosuka Beach, runners passed on a sash.
Sri Lanka Nippon Educational and Cultural Center (SNECC） visited Sammu City 【Sep 18th to19th, 2016】
Youth Exchange Program between Sri Lanka and Sammu City.
Seven members arrived from SNECC (1 University student, 4 High school students and members in SNECC)
Homestay at the houses in the city - It developed the bond and understanding between two countries.
Sri Lanka Festival 2016 【Sep 24th to 25th, 2016】
2016 Sri Lankan festival held at Tokyo Odaiba "Symbol Promenade Park".
Sammu City and Sammu Grobal Center promoted their activities conducted until now between Sri Lanka.
Hon. Minister of Sports of Sri Lanka visited Sammu City 【Oct 23rd, 2016】
Sri Lankan sports minister Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara came to Sammu City and inspected Hasunuma Sports Plaza and Naruto General Sports Park.
There, he addressed the citizens in Sammu and thanked them to back up to Sri Lanka.
International Exchange Effort "Sammu Grobal Center"
Sammu City has registered as the Host Town for Sri Lanka in the Olympic & Paralympic program 2020. And they have conducted promoted programs for encourage to Sri Lanka.
Members of the City Council in Sammu City visited Sri Lanka 【Nov 6th to 10th, 2016】
- From November 6th to 10th, 2016 (3 nights and 5 days)
- The Chairman of City Council in Sammu, Vice Chairman, 5 members of the City Council, Vice mayor, and 3 officers in Sammu City, have participated.
- Visiting：Ministry of Sports, NOC, Schools, Embassy of Japan, JICA office, Parliament of Sri Lanka
Boccia Experience Event 【Jan 29th, 2017】
A tournament at Hasunuma Sports Plaza invited players from Japan National team as guests.
School for a cheering and supporting for participating country for Olympic and Paralympic program in 2020
The elementary schools and junior high schools in Sammu City hopes to support one country or a division in that country.
According to that, theme they engaged in study about their culture and language of their host country.
Sri Lankan high school and junior high school students visited to Japan for an educational tour【Mar 17th, 2017】
The training program for visit to Japan has conducted by Japan Foundation for high school students who study Japanese language in foreign countries.
As an item of that 13 Sri Lankan students came to Sammu City.
Sending Sports Gears (according to the basic agreement with Sri Lanka) 【Mar 30th, 2017】
Collecting sports equipment (506 items) from elementary schools and junior high schools. Sending them to Sri Lanka.
